SALT LAKE CITY, UT
Wholly Guacamole is proud to present to Live Wholly Festival! Join us for an evening filled with music, food, fun and, of course, guacamole! Cold War Kids
Time: 8:00 PM
The opening act for the festival is national touring act, Cold War Kids. Cold War Kids first took to the stage in their homegrown Southern California scene. This indie rock band has existed for 10 years, and five records and is still making art that is very vulnerable and singular. They are ambitious and honest with themselves, knowing that they want success and to reach people and have them understand their art.
Raised in hard-bitten Nebraska, Joshua James’ work reflects a distinctly American ache, a yearning for a big sky and an open road. Beckoned westward out of his heartland home by the voices of Jim Morrison and Isaac Brock, he made it as far as the mountains of Utah, where like the settlers before him, he was stopped in his tracks by the arresting beauty. Here, where the mountains pierce the heavens, some believe a conduit is open between man and the divine.
Born out of Provo, this four-piece is equally strong as songwriters as they are musicians. Their unique sound features two lead-vocalists, Stuart Maxfield and Robert Connolly that trade leads and creative counter-punches throughout the EP. Drummer Aaron Anderson and guitar/bas/synth-player Brandon Kitterman round out the rhythm section with driving beats that pay complement to the haunting guitars and screaming solos. There is never a dull moment with the quirky, art-forward band and their ironic sense of humor.
We’re excited to have Justin’s joining us at the Festival! You can find them in the amphitheater grounds, serving samples of their delicious Classic Peanut Butter+ Banana Chips!
